If you've ever watched Wayne Brady make up a song on the spot on "Whose Line is it Anyway?", caught TBD: the Improvised Musical on a Friday night Up Front at Shadowbox Live or want to learn the nuances of improvising music for improv scenes or games, Improvised Musical I will teach you the foundations you'll need to excel in this art form.
In this four week course, participants will learn:
+Basic song structure and how songs are built
+How to improvise melodies, create rhymes and build strong choruses in the moment
+How to leverage emotion in your music to create a strong point of view
+The basics of on-the-spot harmonization
+How to create music in scenes or short form games like "Sounds Like a Song"
...and more!
This is a four week workshop, starting Thursday, January 16 and running for four consecutive Thursday evenings from 7-9pm.
The workshop is fun, immersive and interactive...and the best part is, just about ANYONE can do musical improv! That's right, you don't have to consider yourself a singer to enjoy and learn how to do musical improv. Improvised music rewards those with the guts to try...even if you don't have a lot of musical experience.
That said, this course does require completion of at least Level Two improv training (from Hashtag Comedy, The Nest, Jeff Gage, Mark Hale or other learning institution). If you don't have formal improv training, but have experience with improvised scenework, please message to see if this course would work for you.
Spots are limited for this class, so sign up soon!
