ROAR: the Art of Ugly is an improv workshop for women from the minds of Katie Drown (ROT, Ladies Who Lounge, TBD the Improvised Musical) and Sarah J Storer (Hashtag Comedy, Ladies Who Lounge, TBD the Improvised Musical). This workshop is designed to help women performers claim and hold space on stage, make strong, grounded choices and own their comedic power...even if those things cast them into an "ugly" light.
In this four hour workshop intensive, Katie and Sarah will provide coaching and exercises to help women to:
+Push through or drop what a woman performer "should" look like or sound like on stage
+Make and own strong choices, even if those choices are loud, "ugly", bizarre or out of the box
+Examine and work through what it means to claim and hold space, even with quiet or supporting characters
+Fully embrace their power as performers in spaces that can be male dominated
...and more!
Participants should have basic improv or scenework training. The course will end with coached scenework and/or montages, so students should have some experience/education in this type of improv/performance.
The course will run for four hours on November 9 from 1-5pm. Space is limited to 10 participants, so sign up soon to reserve your spot.
