Did you know that when you sing together with large groups of people, your heartbeats slow and synchronize? That's science (for real. Google.). Scientific studies also show that music can help us connect better to each other on emotional and mental levels.
But--science aside--we like singing because it's a good time. Singing together comes from a basic desire to connect. It's primal (it goes wayyyyy back), it connects us to something bigger than ourselves and it brings people together in new and unexpected ways.
The Big Sing is the brain child of John Kuhn (On the Verge productions) and is produced in partnership with Hashtag Comedy. It's a night of singing songs most every one knows (and if you don't, we'll teach you) and lifting our voices together in harmony...while we also drink some booze and raise money for a great cause.
This month, The Big Sing is raising funds for The Mud Lotus Prison Project. This local non-profit works with local prisons to teach meditation to their incarcerated populations. While admission to The Big Sing is free, we're suggesting a donation of $5 to accompany your participation at the event.
Drop by any time throughout the evening! No experience necessary, all levels welcome. We'll have three set times where we'll join voices to sing the night's songs. Stay tuned to this event for details so you don't miss your favorite song!
